Terms of Service

The agreement, in plain words.

What you can expect from LifeLayers, what we expect from you, and what happens if either side falls short. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

01

The agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and SynaVora FZ-LLC, the company that operates LifeLayers. By creating an account, installing the app, or using any part of the LifeLayers website, app, or related services (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms.

If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. If you're using LifeLayers on behalf of an organisation, you're confirming you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

i

The short version. Be respectful, post things that are actually yours to post, don't break the law, and keep your account secure. We provide the Service as best we can; if things go wrong, our liability is limited as set out below. We'd rather work things out by email than in court.

02

Who we are

LifeLayers is operated by SynaVora FZ-LLC, registered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. References to "we", "us", and "our" in these Terms mean the company. References to "you" and "your" mean the person reading them — the user of the Service.

LifeLayers is a geo-social network: a service that lets people post photos, short videos, and text tied to real-world locations, browse what others have posted at those locations, and connect with each other through public profiles, friendships, and direct messages.

03

Eligibility and accounts

Who can use LifeLayers

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. In jurisdictions where the minimum digital-consent age is higher (for example, 16 in parts of the European Economic Area), that higher minimum applies to you. If you're under the legal age of majority in your country, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms.

We may decline to provide the Service, or to provide certain features, to anyone, for any reason consistent with applicable law.

Your account

  • One account per person. Multiple accounts to circumvent suspensions, manipulate engagement, or impersonate others are not allowed.
  • Accurate information. Give us a real name and a real email when you sign up. You can use a username that doesn't disclose your identity, but the account-level information we hold should be accurate.
  • Keep your password secure. You're responsible for everything that happens through your account. Use a strong, unique password and don't share it with anyone.
  • Notify us of compromise. If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, write to [email protected] immediately so we can help secure it.
  • No transfer. Your account belongs to you. You can't sell it, rent it, or transfer it to anyone else.
04

Your content — you own it

Photos, videos, text, comments, and messages you post on LifeLayers are yours. We don't claim ownership of them. You keep every right you had in your content before you posted it — copyright, the right to reproduce or display elsewhere, the right to publish a book of your photos, anything.

You also keep the right to delete what you've posted. Deleting a layer removes it from public view immediately and from our active systems within the timelines described in our privacy policy.

You confirm that anything you post is either created by you, or that you have all the rights and permissions necessary to post it on a service like LifeLayers. If your post includes recognisable people other than yourself, you confirm you have the necessary consent to share it under the audience setting you chose.

05

The license you grant us

For the Service to work — for us to actually show your layer to your friends, transcode your video so it streams on someone else's phone, generate a thumbnail for the map, or include your post in an export you request — we need permission to handle your content in certain narrow technical ways.

By posting content on LifeLayers, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, modify (for technical adaptation only), create derivative works of (for thumbnails, format conversion, and similar), display, perform, and distribute your content — solely for the purposes of operating and improving the Service.

This licence is limited:

  • It's tied to the audience you chose for each piece of content. We only display a friends-only layer to your friends.
  • It ends when you delete the content from the Service, subject to the standard backup retention period explained in our privacy policy.
  • It doesn't permit us to license your content to advertisers, sell it to third parties, or use it in marketing for LifeLayers without your separate, specific permission.
i

The plain-English version. The licence above is what lets us show your post to the people you wanted to show it to. It doesn't mean we can sell your photo to a stock-image library. It doesn't mean we can put your face on a billboard. Those would require asking you separately, and we wouldn't.

06

Acceptable use

LifeLayers has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You agree not to do any of the following on or through the Service. These are grounds for removal, suspension, or permanent termination, and may be reported to authorities where appropriate.

Illegal or harmful content

  • Anything unlawful in your jurisdiction or in ours.
  • Child sexual abuse material, grooming, sextortion, or any content involving the sexualisation of minors. See our child safety standards for the full policy.
  • Content that promotes terrorism or organised violent extremism.
  • Threats, harassment, stalking, doxxing, or content that incites violence against individuals or groups.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery ("revenge porn").
  • Hateful content targeting people on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or similar protected characteristics.

Manipulation and deception

  • Impersonating someone else, including using their name, likeness, or identifying details.
  • Coordinated inauthentic behaviour designed to mislead users or manipulate the Service.
  • Falsifying the location of a layer to misrepresent where something happened.
  • Fraud, scams, or attempts to obtain anyone's credentials or personal information by deception.

Abuse of the Service

  • Spam, bulk-posting, or other automated activity that degrades the experience for other users.
  • Scraping, crawling, or otherwise harvesting user data or content at scale, except as expressly permitted (e.g. data exports for your own account).
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or otherwise attempting to extract source code from the Service, except as permitted by mandatory applicable law.
  • Probing for vulnerabilities other than as part of a responsible disclosure. If you've found a real security issue, please write to [email protected]; we welcome the report.
  • Circumventing access controls, rate limits, paywalls (when introduced), or other technical measures.

Other users' rights

  • Posting content that violates someone else's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
  • Sharing private information about another person without their consent.
  • Sending unsolicited commercial messages.
07

Reporting and content removal

Every layer, profile, and direct-message thread has an in-app Report option. Reports go to our safety queue and are reviewed by a human, usually within 24 hours; safety-critical categories are prioritised.

We may remove content, restrict an account's ability to post, or terminate an account if we determine, after review, that content or behaviour violates these Terms. We may also remove content where required to do so by law or by a valid order from a competent authority.

Appeals

If we've removed something of yours or actioned your account, you can appeal by writing to [email protected] with the relevant details. A different reviewer will look at the case. Most appeals are resolved within 14 days.

Bad-faith reports

Knowingly false or malicious reports are themselves a violation of these Terms. Good-faith reports, including ones that turn out to be incorrect after review, never carry consequences.

09

Privacy

Our privacy policy explains in detail what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the controls and rights you have over your own data. By using the Service, you confirm you've read and understood it.

The short version is what's on our about page: no ads, no third-party data sales, no search-engine indexing, and privacy controls available on every piece of content you post.

10

Termination

By you

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Once you confirm, your profile, layers, comments, messages, and social-graph entries are removed from our live service immediately, along with the photos and videos you uploaded. The deletion is permanent and unrecoverable by design — we cannot restore a deleted account. Residual copies on operational backups roll off in line with our standard rotation; details are in section 8 of the privacy policy.

You can also simply stop using the Service without deleting; your content stays until you choose to remove it.

By us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without prior notice, if:

  • You've materially breached these Terms, the child safety standards, or applicable law;
  • Your account is being used in ways that risk harm to other users, to the Service, or to us;
  • Your account has been inactive for an extended period and we need to reclaim resources, in which case we'll notify you by email beforehand and give you a reasonable period to reactivate; or
  • We're required to do so by law or by a valid order from a competent authority.

Effect of termination

On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that are intended to survive termination — including the licences you granted in respect of content already shared, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law — continue to apply.

11

Disclaimers and limits

Service is provided "as is"

We make the Service available on a reasonable-efforts basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components.

We don't guarantee that any specific feature will remain available indefinitely, that the Service will be free from bugs, or that content posted by other users is accurate, lawful, or appropriate.

No liability for user content

Other users' content is theirs, not ours. We don't endorse it and we're not responsible for it. We make a good-faith effort to moderate, but content can appear briefly before our reviewers see it. If something looks wrong, please report it.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, neither SynaVora FZ-LLC nor its directors, officers, employees, or affiliates will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including loss of profit, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or business interruption — arising from or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

Where the law does not permit a full exclusion of liability, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising under or in connection with these Terms or the Service will not exceed, in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the Service in that period, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD 100).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or wilful misconduct.

12

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SynaVora FZ-LLC and its directors, officers, employees, and affiliates from and against any third-party claim, demand, loss, damage, liability, or reasonable legal cost (including reasonable lawyers' fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • your content or your use of the Service in violation of these Terms;
  • your infringement of any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights; or
  • your violation of any applicable law.

We'll notify you promptly of any claim for which we seek indemnification and cooperate reasonably in its defence. You may not settle any claim that imposes obligations on us, requires admissions of fault, or restricts our operations without our prior written consent.

13

Governing law and disputes

Governing law

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation, are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence offer additional rights, those rights are unaffected by this clause.

Informal resolution first

Before starting any formal proceeding, please write to [email protected] describing the dispute and what you'd like us to do about it. We commit to a substantive response within 30 days. The overwhelming majority of disputes that reach us are resolved by email.

Courts

If informal resolution fails, the courts of the United Arab Emirates have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms, unless a different jurisdiction is required by mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.

14

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Non-material changes — such as typo fixes, clarifications that don't alter your rights or obligations, or contact information updates — may be made without separate notice.

If you don't agree with a material change, you can stop using the Service and delete your account before the change takes effect.
