No ads, ever.
We don't run banner ads, video ads, or sponsored interruptions in your feed. You won't see "promoted" posts mixed into the layers you came to look at.
Share moments tied to real places. Discover what others have left at those places. No ads, no tracking, no algorithm deciding what you see.
LifeLayers is a different kind of social network. Instead of an endless feed of strangers' opinions, every post — we call them layers — lives at the location it was taken. A photo of your morning coffee belongs to that café. A video from a hike belongs to that trailhead. Open the map and you can wander through what people have left at the places you visit, the way you'd flip through postcards if everyone wrote one.
You decide who sees each layer: public for anyone passing through, followers only, friends only, or just you. Nothing is amplified by an algorithm. Nothing is hidden behind one either.
Most "we value your privacy" statements are written by lawyers. These aren't. They're product decisions we've already made and don't intend to revisit.
We don't run banner ads, video ads, or sponsored interruptions in your feed. You won't see "promoted" posts mixed into the layers you came to look at.
Your posts, location history, friends list, and activity stay on our servers. We don't sell, license, or share them with brokers, advertisers, or anyone else.
Google can't crawl your layers. Your name, your posts, your profile — none of it shows up in a stranger's search. What you share on LifeLayers stays on LifeLayers.
Per-layer visibility, friends-only by default for sensitive posts, and you can hide your profile from search entirely. You shouldn't have to dig through settings to be private.
Founder & Lead Engineer · Cairo, Egypt
"I wanted somewhere I could share photos of the places I actually go, without those photos becoming someone else's training data the next morning."
I built LifeLayers because the social apps I grew up with stopped being for me — they started being for the advertisers paying to reach me. I'm an engineer with about a decade in networking and privacy-respecting infrastructure, and this is the kind of product I'd want my friends and family on. Every line of code, every server config, every decision about what we will and won't do with your data has my name attached to it. If you ever want to know why something works the way it does, the answer is at contact.
Servers, storage, and bandwidth cost real money. Since we won't make that money from ads or selling data, we make it from optional memberships — and we'd rather be upfront about exactly how. Here's where the money comes from, all of it clearly distinct from invasive ads:
Optional paid tiers — Verified for people and Business for places and brands — that add a verification badge plus presentation features like multiple avatars and a profile highlights gallery. Crucially, paying buys identity and polish, not reach: members get no algorithmic boost, no feed priority, and no special treatment in anyone else's feed. See the plans.
If you simply believe in an ad-free, privacy-first place to share, you can chip in — one-time or monthly. Donations are a supplement, not the backbone, and they buy nothing in return: no badge, no boost, no special treatment. Purely support for the mission. Support us.
What we will never do: sell your data, share it with advertisers, build a profile of you to sell to anyone, or run ads that follow you across the internet. If we ever need to change something here, you'll see it on this page first.
